Alzheimer’s Society

In 2008 we launched our support of the Alzheimer’s Society, the UK’s leading care and research charity. Their role in supporting people with dementia is invaluable. Currently there are over 700,000 people with dementia in the UK, and numbers are set to increase to one million by 2025. The bill for assisting people with dementia may rise to £35billion a year. More than half of the 700,000 have Alzheimer’s disease. Dementia affects one in 20 people over the age of 65 and one in 5 over the age of 80. In the UK currently there are 18,500 people under 65 with dementia.

Just to emphasise what they do, the Society provides support not only for people with all kinds of dementia, but also information and support for the people that care for them. They provide quality care services, fund research, advise professionals, provide a Helpline and campaign for improved health and social care, and greater public understanding and awareness of dementia.

We will be holding a number of fund raising activities over the coming months. If you would like to support us with any fund raising, sponsor our activities, or take up support of the Alzheimer’s Society as your nominated charity, please do contact us.
