Managing Director:  Lee Bishop BSc (Hons) MRICS

Lee is the founding member of Chessmann Consulting, and has been Managing Director since the company was established in 1998.

Graduating from Bristol University and qualifying as an Associate of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, Lee worked for eight years as a Quantity Surveyor during and after his studies at one of the world’s largest firms of Project & Cost Management consultants.

Before establishing Chessmann, for five years he headed the healthcare section as a partner with a Cardiff based firm of Chartered Quantity Surveyors.

Lee has specialised in healthcare developments for over fifteen years. He has extensive experience in low security, medium security and rehabilitation mental health units, and has consulted on the construction of numerous care homes.

Lee’s knowledge and reputation in this sector is further evidenced by the fact that he has acted as an expert witness in a public enquiry in relation to healthcare planning uses.

Director:  Chris Ford BSc (Hons) MRICS

Chris has spent over twenty seven years in the field. Joining the Chessmann team as a Director three years ago, he formerly managed Quantity Surveying and Project Management services with a national multi disciplined practice and was based in Bristol.

His specialist knowledge is in education projects, including schools, further education establishments and universities, combined with significant experience in the wider residential healthcare sector.

Chris has covered a broad range of sectors, and has performed extensive project management work on landmark schemes across the UK. Chris’s expertise is also biased towards general healthcare, both primary and secondary, in addition to specialist needs schools and general educational establishments.

Associate Director:  Ashley Boon, BSc (Hons) MRICS

Ashley was originally a director in a local construction company, and gained his BSc in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying at Portsmouth University.

A team member at Chessmann for three years, Ashley became a Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors in November 2006, and took on the position of Associate Director in the December.

Ashley brings in a unique perspective with his experience of the construction side, with an in depth understanding of the workings of project management. His commercial background also adds a breadth of knowledge to the team, with his previous experience ranging from NHS to airport projects.

Senior Team

Chessmann’s Senior Team consists of highly skilled Project Managers, Quantity and Building Surveyors with considerable experience in the healthcare and education sectors, and additionally general construction:
